Chapter Five
What had just happened?
Emmett was at a loss. After some of the best sex of his life, he lay in bed and wondered why his lover had fled. Things had been good. Kit enjoyed himself. Or he looked like he did.
He isn’t gay, you idiot.
He had a hard time wrapping his mind around that. It was Kit’s cock in his ass. It wasn’t like the man slipped and fell. He was an active participant. Hell, he’d had his fingers up Emmett’s ass. Seemed pretty gay to him. Or bi at least.
The shower started in the other room. Emmett wondered if he should go join Kit, but he didn’t want to make matters worse. Maybe this was a one-time deal and he’d stop craving Kit. Somehow he didn’t think so. He was stuck on the man and wanted more. Kit was funny, nice and strong. He could be the perfect partner, if he’d get over the fact that Emmett was a guy.
Emmett tried to think how he would feel if all the sudden he was attracted to a woman. How would he deal with such a big thing? Under the circumstances, Kit seemed to be doing fairly well, the mad bolt out of the room notwithstanding.
The bed squeaked under him when he moved and Emmett decided to do something. It was still early and he could get a little work done on the house. He’d start with the kitchen. Pull those cabinets off. First, he should shower too. Maybe he’d hurry up and take care of the clothes that were strung across the house. No need to rub Kit’s nose in what happened. They could talk later when the man wrapped his mind around what happened. He would settle down, right?
Emmett showered in record time. Kit’s shower was still going when he came out. He picked up the discarded clothes and put his in his room. He folded Kit’s clothes and left them on the couch. That was as good as he could do without going in to the guy’s room, and right now he had a feeling he wouldn’t be welcome.
Now, on to the kitchen. He remembered seeing a toolbox on the tour. First thing he wanted to do was take off the cupboard doors so he could fix them. He’d wait to tackle the roof until morning.
Lost in thought, Emmett didn’t hear Kit come into the room. He would have missed him entirely if Kit hadn’t run into the table.
“Sorry. I’m going to take care of the livestock. Yeah. Um. Should be some stuff in the fridge for dinner. Help yourself.”
And with that he was gone. Emmett didn’t even have time to say anything. He sighed and got back to work. He did still have a job to do. Maybe he would make something for dinner. Sort of a peace offering. Hard to believe it was still only his first day here. What a fucked up day it had been too. He hoped tomorrow went better and maybe this time he wouldn’t come on to the boss.
